Read this before buying Victoria's Secret
As a long time Victoria's Secret customer who also loves to save money, I am passing on some of my retail knowledge about so called discount codes, coupons, etc. that are being sold here on ebay. There are many ways to save money with Victoria's Secret, and you don't need a middle man.
Special offers:
Many of the Victoria's Secret offers for sale here on eBay can be found for free, simply by visiting the website. You can even sign up for email and they will send you the offers as they are available.
- Do not pay sellers for information you can receive for free, even if it's a couple of bucks. For example, there are several auctions right now for coupons for free handbag, totes, etc. with a minimum purchase. Those same offer codes can be found for free at retailmenot.com. The codes are as follows: FA78713 Free Logo Tote (Pink) with $75 purchase FA78725 Free Logo Weekender (Black) with $150 purchase FA78737 All 3 Free with $250 Purchase FA78749. Enter the offer codes at check-out when ordering online to get your free bags. There are loads of special offers out there, DO NOT pay anyone for stuff VS gives away for free!!! They are always having offers for $10 off bras and free panties, beauty kits, etc. VS is not particular; in fact, I have called them to ask for a coupon code to save 10% off Canadian orders (works for USA, too) Just for the record it is currently code FA77393 ;)
- Subscribe to the catalogue. Each month you will receive at least one new catalogue that always offers at least 10% off your purchase, sometimes 15% and as much as 20% during the holiday seasons. Check the website regularily for free shipping offers. And best of all, Victoria's Secret occassionally offers deals such as:
$15 off $100 order
$30 off $150 order
$75 off $250 order
and so on...
Often you can only combine so many offer codes - for example, you cannot take 10% off of the catalogue purchases AND get free shipping. So weigh out first how you can save more money.
These offers are only available to the US, so if you live in Canada and have a dependable friend in the USA, ship the items to him/her and have them ship to you. This helps avoid high brokerage and sales tax charges. Just rememeber that if you have to return anything, exchange it instead. If you bought $150 worth of clothes and got $30 off, then had to return a $20 item, this automatically puts you under the $150 limit. You will lose your $30 off and your refund will be adjusted accordingly.
- Do a google search for "victoria's secret coupon codes" - the retailmenot and Slick details are the best for finding coupon codes for online shopping. They should pop up as top searches.
- The online Semi-Annual sales are around December 20 and May 20. A few days before the sale, Victoria's Secret sends out an offer to save 30% on one single item. Don't fall for it! Unless it's something you're sure won't be going on sale just wait. Prices drop drastically plus with special offers such as the $15 off of $100 and so on, you could be losing out. They try to lure you into buying before the sale. People rush to do their Christmas shopping only to find the day after Christmas the $42 bra they bought is now down to $25! If you can hold out, do it and stock up for a fraction of the cost. Often online coupon codes will work on clearance merchandise, even if it says they don't. Play around with the codes and you may surprise yourself.
- If in doubt, buy brand new. I've bought so much Victoria's Secret stuff on ebay only to find it didn't fit right or was not what I wanted. VS has an excellent return policy whereas if you buy on eBay you may be stuck with it, or have to take a hit in reselling it. eBay is great for this stuff when you know exactly what you are getting, and want to get it cheaper, such as a $119 Pea Coat from VS - you may be able to get it for half price if some eBayer just wore it once and wants to resell it. But again, make sure it's exactly what you want because there are seldom returns on eBay!
Gift cards:
Most of the coupons and Angel's gift cards for sale require you to have an Angels credit card to purchase.
- Coupons saving you money on bras, panties, and beauty products, as well as the $10 gift cards you see here are available for free to you simply by applying for the Victoria's Secret Angels credit card. They will send you a booklet full of special offers. Also, once you have become an Angels VIP they will send you one $10 off card for every $250 you spend. Not a lot, but better than nothing.
- If you have an Angels card and have used up or want more coupons, by all means - eBay is the place for you to get more.
- Gift cards are selling on ebay for only a few dollars less than their acutal value. Why bid $140 to get a $150 gift card? Save your money and watch for the deals. That way you aren't stuck with a card that can potentially get lost, expire, etc. for the sake of saving $10 or so dollars.
Other tips:
The best way to save money with Victoria's Secret merchandise is to check eBay first. If you find something you like in the catalog or online, do a search on ebay and you may be able to find it for half price! Victoria's Secret is a little pricey, but the quality is unbeatable.
